The recently-concluded Association of Southeast Asian Nation meeting here was tagged as a resounding success with zero incidents happening during the three-day convention that was held in a resort in Panglao.
The assessment was made by Supt. George Vale, chief of the Police Community Relations at Camp Dagohoy, after the last delegate went home last Wednesday.
Bohol hosted last week the 9th ASEAN Forum on Taxation where a technical working group discussed the excise tax and other financial matters.
The meeting was headed by the Department of Finance and was held at the Bellevue Resort in Doljo, Fatima.
Vale said the forces that secured the almost 200 delegates came from different units located in the province.
Bohol police provincial director Sr. Supt. Felipe Natividad acted as the overall in command on the security coverage and expressed his thanks to everyone who cooperated and contributed to the success of the activity.
There were no outside forces included in the security detail unlike the two previous ASEAN meetings.
Bohol previously hosted two ASEAN meetings, one back in April and the other one was back in September.
Both meetings attracted forces from other regions or provinces to augment the local troops.
Since the province hosted the Asia Cooperation Dialogue in August, it was proven the local security force was enough to protect the delegates and getting additional forces may be perceived as an overkill.
