Tubigon’s bet Pauline Amelinckx edged 19 other beauties from all over Bohol and crowned Miss Bohol 2017 in a glamorous pageant show last night at the Bohol Wisdom School gymnasium. She did not come without a strong challenge from the bet from Loon, Gazini Christiana Jordi Ganados, who has been one of the strong favorites to win the crown.
Amelinckx has been the dark horse of the pageant and lived up to expectations by pageant pundits to win the crown this year.
Getting into last night’s pageant, the contest was seen by some observers as a two-horse race between Loon and Tubigon for the crown.
Ganados, a pageant veteran having entered in Miss Earth pageant before, has been a strong contender for the crown.
Calape’s bet Angelika Concha won second runner-up.
Tagbilaran’s Bianca Gaviola took home the sash for 3rd runner-up.
While the fourth runner-up was Maria Andrea Laniba of Jagna.
Among the night’s judges were fashion icon Renee Salud and presidential legal adviser Salvador Panelo.
Amelinckx, a Filipina-Belgian blood, also won some minor awards including Best in Production, Miss JCI and the Darling of the Press.
The award for Miss Congeniality went to Miss Trinidad Rheya Mae Canda.
The Behold Bohol Fan Award went to Miss Bilar, Donna Lee Cabugsan.
Best in Talent went to Miss Tagbilaran, Gaviola.
Ramasola Viewer’s Choice Award and Miss Photogenic went to Miss Loon, Ganados.
People from outside Bohol were treated to the live show via social media as several pages live streamed the beauty pageant.
Some Boholanos took time to watch the pageant as bloggers also live streamed the show via their respective platforms and also on social media.
The streaming was a welcome treat especially for a show anticipated by Boholanos outside Bohol, since there was no television coverage given it was a local pageant.
